This 2005 National Champions 24K gold plated 1oz commemorative coin is approximately 1.5" in diameter and displays an interlocking NC on the front in the middle of the coin. A bar is drawn horizontally across the coin, behind the interlocking NC. On one side of the NC it reads '20' and on the other side it reads '05'. There is a border around the circle which reads 'NCAA MEN'S BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS'. The back of the coin has an interlocking NC next to the words 'NORTH CAROLINA'. Below that reads 'VS ILLINOIS' beside a large capital 'I'. The very bottom of the back side says 'LIMITED EDITION'. The edition is limited to 2005 coins.
